First Of All, If You Are Here, That Means You Are Engaged, So I Want To Wish You Congratulations. This Is An Exciting Time In Your Lives Because You Have Your Entire Wedding (and Then Marriage!) Ahead Of You. This Season Is Fun Because There Are So Many Possibilities, But With Possibility Comes The Unknown. We Here At Emerveille Events Want To Provide You With Some Advice For Newly Engaged Couples. 1. Breathe. There's A Ring On Your Finger And In Less Than Three Seconds, People Around You Are Asking Questions Such As When's The Wedding? What Are Your Wedding Colours? And Can I Come? With So Many Questions, You May Feel Like You Are Already Eight Months Behind Wedding Planning, But We Are Here To Tell You That You Are Not. I Have Seen Weddings Planned In Eighteen Months, And I Have Seen Weddings Planned In Three Months. While There Is Wisdom In Having A Planning Timeline To Ensure That You Aren't Overwhelmed And So That You Are Able To Plan A Wedding That Is Representative Of You, There Is No Need To Rush Into Planning The Day After You Are Engaged. My Biggest Piece Of Advice To Engaged Couples Is To Set A Date After The Proposal To Begin Wedding Planning, And To Not Talk About The Wedding Until That Date. That Way, When Family And Friends Come At You With A Million Questions, You Can Tell Them We Aren't Beginning Planning Until X Date. We Are Enjoying Just Being Engaged Until Then.2. Make Time For One Another. I Hear Couples Say So Often We Have Just Turned Our Date Nights Into Wedding Planning Nights! While That May Be Fun In The Beginning, It Doesn't Take Long Before You And Your Fiancé Realise That You Haven't Had A Non-wedding Related Conversation In Months. If Your Only Time To Have Quality One-on-one Time Together Is One Night A Week, Spend Every Other Week As A Date Night And Have Wedding Talk Off Limits, Or Have No Wedding-talk Zones, Such As From 6-7pm, During Dinner, Or For The Last Hour Before Bed. This Ensures That You Are Getting Quality Time And Preparing Your Relationship For The Marriage That Follows After The Wedding, Not Just Preparing For The Wedding Day.3. Hire A Wedding Planner. I Hear It As A Frequent Regret From Couples Who Don't Hire A Wedding Planner (myself Included). There Are Many Unknowns During The Wedding Planning Process, Which Is Absolutely Okay Because This Is Most Likely Your First Time Planning A Wedding.
