Their paths first almost crossed back in 2002. Both attended the same Saturday school, and Vincent happened to be in Jenny’s brother’s class. They were classic overachievers, battling for top scores in math and Chinese—but despite their proximity, Jenny and Vincent never actually met. Looking back, it’s probably a good thing. They were kids, after all.

A few years later, Jenny would often be found in the stands, cheering on her cousin at martial arts competitions. Vincent? Likely on the floor nearby, demonstrating his skills. Still, no connection. Just another moment the red thread passed quietly by.Then came university. They walked the same campus, shared mutual friends, and even had family overlap—Vincent’s brother was in the same program as Jenny. Still, fate held off. The thread remained tangled in life’s busyness.

At one point, a mutual friend—who trained martial arts with Vincent and worked with Jenny—tried to introduce them via Facebook. Jenny politely declined. The timing just wasn’t right.

But everything changed on Valentine’s Day, 2015. In a moment of bold spontaneity (and maybe a glass of wine), Jenny messaged Vincent—technically a stranger at the time—with a cheeky photo of a dried date and the caption: “I think I found the perfect date.”It was a cringey joke, sure—but it worked. That playful message gave the red thread a serious tug, and one month later, they finally met in person.

Their first date was long-awaited and well worth the wait. Despite early curfews and strict parenting, they managed to make it happen—and everything just clicked. Suddenly, all those years of missed moments made sense. The thread, after winding its way through childhood, school, and chance encounters, had finally tied them together.

Fast forward to their wedding day in Mexico—it was pure magic. Surrounded by friends and family who had been part of their journey, Jenny and Vincent celebrated their love in the most joyful, vibrant way. The day was everything they had dreamed of and more—full of laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories
