Shaye and Clifton’s wedding at Perona Farms in Andover Township, NJ is one I will never forget! Let's begin at the day Clifton decided to sweep Shaye off her feet once and for all. It happened in the picturesque town of New Hope, Pennsylvania, just two days before Shaye's birthday. Clifton orchestrated a flawless evening, starting with a romantic dinner overlooking the water. Afterward, they took a leisurely stroll by the canal where Clifton proposed. The perfect beginning to their love story.
The Laughlin’s love story continued with their choice of venue. Just three days after Clifton's beautiful proposal, they visited Perona Farms and knew it was the one for a perfect July barn wedding. The decision was quick and easy. Sometimes, love knows exactly where it belongs.
The journey to their wedding day was an adventure. Shaye confessed that the most challenging part of the planning process was finding the time. As the first among her friends to venture into matrimonial territory, she felt like a trailblazer, navigating the intricacies of wedding planning with little guidance…
“The most difficult part of the planning process was finding the time! I was the first one of my friends to get married- so I felt as if I started from ground zero in regard to tips, contacts for vendors, timelines, etc. I was completely in the dark!” – Bride, Shaye
…However, this challenge only made their planning more special, as they discovered each detail together.
Amidst the whirlwind of preparations, Shaye found comfort in one particular detail: her dream wedding dress. With each fitting, she grew more enamored with it, saying “Every time I tried it on- I refused to take it off!”
Leading up to their big day, there was one worry that loomed above all others – the weather. In the unpredictable realm of outdoor ceremonies, Mother Nature often holds the upper hand. But as fate would have it, their 30-minute outdoor ceremony enjoyed nothing but clear skies and sunniness.
As the Laughlin’s reflected on their July barn wedding at Perona Farms, they shared a smart tip for future brides and grooms for their wedding day…
"After we got married, we ran upstairs together as a couple and had some appetizers by ourselves. We had the chance to talk, debrief, and share some moments together as husband and wife for the first time. We only took 15 minutes out of our cocktail hour to do this- and it was so worth it.” – Shaye
As I reflect on the Laughlin’s wedding day, I'm reminded of the power of love and how it brings two people together. It was lovely documenting their special day, and I hope to capture more memorable moments at Perona Farms in the future!
BRIDE’S PEACH & PIT
Peach: “Holding hands, standing across from my husband as he said his vows- I had butterflies!”
Pit: “Having to walk through some of my guests before the ceremony to get to the back (waiting) room- yikes!”
