I'm Going To Share A Story That Is Really Quite Embarrassing... But There Are Some Lessons To Be Learned From It, So I Will Let My Pride Take A Bit More Of A Beating If It Helps Someone Else.⁣ ⁣ April In The Mountains Is Messy. The Snow Is Melting, The Ground Is Wet & It's Super Muddy. So Mid-ceremony Yesterday, I'm Trying To Get Down The Hill At The Viewpoint At Emerald Lake That Is A Mix Of Thick Mud & Melting Snow. Before I Knew What Happened I Was Flat Out On My Side, Both Cameras Hit The Ground Hard. Covered In Mud, Water & Snow. I Looked Like A Creature From The Black Lagoon From The Waist Down. I Got Up Quickly, Got Back To Shooting. One Camera Was Broken. Would Not Turn On. The Other Was On, Not Showing The Display. I Couldn't Change Focus Points, The Dials Weren't Doing What They Were Supposed To, Autofocus Was Toast. Fuuuuuuck! There Was A Wedding Ceremony. I Had To Do Something. So Here's The First Lesson. The Beep. The Beep That People Either Love Or Hate. Well, I Am A Big Fan Of The Beep & It Saved My Ass Yesterday. Thinking Quickly, I Put My Lens In To Manual, Pressed The Shutter, Adjusted The Lens Until I Heard That Sweet Beep That Let Me Know The Photo Was In Focus. I Had To Adjust How I Shoot, To Work With One Camera And In Fully Manual Mode. But I Did It. I Didn't Fuck Up The Photos & Ruin Someone's Wedding Day. So Use The Darn Beep, It Could Save You One Day. I Can't Even Tell You How Stressed I Was, I Tried To Not Let It Show, But Wow. You Really Can't Control What Can Happen On A Wedding Day, You Just Need To Do The Best You Can, Get As Creative With You Problem Solving, To Just Make It Happen!⁣ ⁣ Congratulations To Andrea & David, Who, Along With Their Guests, Will Always Have The Memory Of Me Bodyslamming The Mud, Looking Like A Swamp Monster, For The Rest Of Their Lives...

Those Well Known Places Are Beautiful, But They Are Buuuuuuuuusy! ⁠ ⁠ I Heard That Parks Canada Closed The Highway Access Yesterday To Lake Louise At 2:30 Pm. I'm Lucky I'm Always Early And Got In At 2:15 Pm. The Traffic Was Bumper-to-bumper Heading Up To Lake Louise & Moraine Lake. It Was The Busiest I've Ever Seen It. In The Middle Of All That, We Were Doing Victoria & Charles' Wedding Photos. We Battled It Out To Get Into Moraine, Climbed The Rock Pile & Shot In Crazy Sun.⁠ ⁠ After That We Headed Up Icefields Parkway & Went To Peyto... We Pretty Much Had The Upper Viewpoint All To Ourselves With Amazing Light... It's All About Timing. After That We Headed To Bow Lake... But With A Quick Stop On The Road To Get A Few Photos... And Then I Took Them Down Into The Ditch. ⁠ ⁠ Yup, This Is A Ditch Right Beside The Highway In Banff National Park & I Think It's Epic. The Best Part? We Had It All To Ourselves!⁠ ⁠ There Is So Much More To Banff Than The Big Lakes... So Let's Go Explore And Find Something New & Amazing!

Newly Engaged & Feeling On Top Of The World! Ugh, Such A Bad Pun. Shame On Me. I Couldn't Resist Though! Please Don't Hold It Against Me! Taylor & I Had Been Conspiring By Email For A Few Weeks... She Thought That Dan Was Going To Propose On Their Trip To Banff & Really Wanted To Do Engagement Photos Here. We Finally Decided That If He Did Pop The Question To Get In Touch And We'd Make The Session Happen. If He Didn't, Then We Would Do Photo & Dan Would Be In The Doghouse For Quite Some Time. ⁠ ⁠ Luckily Dan Came Through & Proposed On Thursday! I Got An Excited E-mail From Taylor & We Put The Plan Into Action For Their Engagement Photos Last Night!⁠ ⁠ Our Plan Was To Go To Moraine Lake But The Road Was Closed (had Been Closed For An Hour & A Half At That Point & We Didn't Know How Much Longer) Due To A Climbing Accident On The Rockpile & Emergency Crews Needed Full Access. So I Suggested We Head To Peyto (it's Only Open For Another Week & A Half) And We Had The Best Time There, Pretty Much Having The Upper Viewpoint All To Ourselves.⁠ ⁠ When The Rain & Thunder Started To Roll In, We Left And Headed To Bow Lake Wheere It Go Super Chilly, But Was Just Beautiful. I Had Then Hopping Over The Dream To Get The Reflections I Adore (check Out Their Jump Shots... My First Time Shooting At Waterfowl Lakes & We Got The Magical Light As The Sun Was Setting Behind The Mountains. It Was The Perfect Way To End The Day With Nikia & Jonathan!⁠ ⁠ My Favourite Part Of Elopements Is That We Can Plan To Shoot With The Best Light Because You Aren't Worried About Making Your Guests Wait For Dinner (although Poor Jonathan Was Starving At This Point Haha). We Gte To Plan The Day Around Getting You The Best Pictures Possible While Having The Best Time Ever!

Last Night I Photographed A Proposal At Moraine Lake. Because Moraine Is So Hard To Get Into & There's No Way To Contact Any One Because There's No Cell Service, I Met Up With Amal & Harini & We Drove Into Together. He Told Her That He Booked A Photo Session For Them So It Wasn't A Total Surprise.⁠ ⁠ We Started With A Few Photos Along The Way Up The Rock Pile & I Let Them Stop To Take In The View. We Jumped Into A Few More Photos Because I Kinda Wanted Harini To Not Be Expecting The Proposal When It Came. We Waited It Out For A Nice Spot That Was Semi-secluded. Then I Said We'd Do A Few Individual Photos... This Gave Amal The Chance To Grab The Ring Box & Get Ready. I Had Harini Turn To Look At At The Lake And Do That Insta Photo That Everyone Does... 😁⁠ ⁠ Amal Approached, They Hugged, Then He Dropped To One Knee & Asked The Big Question!! Of Course Harini Said Yes! The Best Part Was Watching Her Excitement & Her Fighting Off The Tears... So Truly Happy!! You Could Just See Her Glowing For The Rest Of The Night!
