Banff In The Winter Is Pretty Darn Amazing! The Temperatures Have Warmed Up A Lot, But The Wind Was Fierce Today For Kendra & Zach's Wedding! They Had The Best Vows! I Was Laughing And Crying A Little While I Was Shooting!

It's A Good Thing I Know My Cameras So Well Because I Couldn't See Anything Shooting In This Crazy Bright Sun And Snow! Turned Out Pretty Well, I Think!

Shooting Portraits On The Lido Deck Was Pretty Awesome... That Bit Of Time Before Sunset Had Such Soft And Pretty Light! And Of Course I Am In Love With All The Blue Tones! Have You Ever Taken A Cruise?

I Have Been Dreaming About Shooting At The Bonneville Salt Flats From The First Time I Saw A Picture Of Them. Tonight, That Dream Came True! What A Truly Amazing Place! What's More Amazing Though? Burgundy & Mike, For Trudging Out In The That Cold Water & Standing On The Crazy Sharp Salt (i Had No Idea Salt Was That Sharp!) After Spending Hours In A Car With Me. Worth It? Abso-frickin-lutely!

I'm Going To Share A Story That Is Really Quite Embarrassing... But There Are Some Lessons To Be Learned From It, So I Will Let My Pride Take A Bit More Of A Beating If It Helps Someone Else.⁣ ⁣ April In The Mountains Is Messy. The Snow Is Melting, The Ground Is Wet & It's Super Muddy. So Mid-ceremony Yesterday, I'm Trying To Get Down The Hill At The Viewpoint At Emerald Lake That Is A Mix Of Thick Mud & Melting Snow. Before I Knew What Happened I Was Flat Out On My Side, Both Cameras Hit The Ground Hard. Covered In Mud, Water & Snow. I Looked Like A Creature From The Black Lagoon From The Waist Down. I Got Up Quickly, Got Back To Shooting. One Camera Was Broken. Would Not Turn On. The Other Was On, Not Showing The Display. I Couldn't Change Focus Points, The Dials Weren't Doing What They Were Supposed To, Autofocus Was Toast. Fuuuuuuck! There Was A Wedding Ceremony. I Had To Do Something. So Here's The First Lesson. The Beep. The Beep That People Either Love Or Hate. Well, I Am A Big Fan Of The Beep & It Saved My Ass Yesterday. Thinking Quickly, I Put My Lens In To Manual, Pressed The Shutter, Adjusted The Lens Until I Heard That Sweet Beep That Let Me Know The Photo Was In Focus. I Had To Adjust How I Shoot, To Work With One Camera And In Fully Manual Mode. But I Did It. I Didn't Fuck Up The Photos & Ruin Someone's Wedding Day. So Use The Darn Beep, It Could Save You One Day. I Can't Even Tell You How Stressed I Was, I Tried To Not Let It Show, But Wow. You Really Can't Control What Can Happen On A Wedding Day, You Just Need To Do The Best You Can, Get As Creative With You Problem Solving, To Just Make It Happen!⁣ ⁣ Congratulations To Andrea & David, Who, Along With Their Guests, Will Always Have The Memory Of Me Bodyslamming The Mud, Looking Like A Swamp Monster, For The Rest Of Their Lives...

Pure Craziness! That Water Is Frickin' Cold!! Would You Take The Plunge In This Frozen Lake In May??

Yesterday Was A Busy Day For Me With Two Sessions At Moraine Lake! I First Met Up With Chelsie & Justin For Their Engagement Session And Chelsie Was Rockin' An Awesome Red Dress, It Looked So Good Against The Water!! I Really Like Shooting This Angle At Moraine In The Daytime Because It Shows The Water Colour So Much Better Than Shooting Out Toward The Peaks!

I Am So Behind On Emails Lately... It's Been Head Down Trying To Keep Up With The Editing. I Almost Didn't Answer Kasey's E-mail In Time, But We Got Their Session Booked On Monday & We Shot Last Night!⁠ ⁠ If You Have Been Emailing & Haven't Heard From Me Yet, Hang Tight! After Today's Wedding I Have 5 Days Off From Shooting So I Will Get Caught Up, Darnit!⁠ ⁠ Now, Back To Kasey & Jeremy, Can You Believe They Climbed That Rock In Evening Wear In The Rain? It's Been A Little Quiet On My Ig For The Past Few Weeks... For A Few Reasons.⁠ ⁠ 1. I Was Shooting Like Crazy, 5 Weddings In A Row!⁠ ⁠ 2. I Flew Out To Kamloops For This Wedding In The Shuswaps.⁠ ⁠ 3. A Couple Of My Hotels Had Terrible Wi-fi.⁠ ⁠ 4. My Laptop Decided It Needed To Run 20 Slower Than It Used To So I've Been Spending Days Trying To Get It Fixed.⁠ ⁠ 5. I'm Feel The Mid-summer Burnout. I Love All The Shooting But The Before & After Work Is Really Wearing On Me. The Travel Time Is Really Getting Me Down & I Can't Seem To Sleep Anymore. I've Booked A Bit Less For August So I Can Try To Get A Little Time Back For Myself To Shake This Feeling.⁠ ⁠ Last Weekend Was Fun Though, In Spite Of All Of The Stuff That's Going On With Me & The Crazy Weather That Was Repeatedly Thrown At Us For Courtney & Matt's Wedding. I Know It's The Middle Of Summer, So Why In The World Am I Showing Winter Photos? I Actually Love Shooting In The Winter. My Favourite Time To Be At @emeraldlakelodge Is When It's Full Of Snow. For The This Elopement, The Ceremony Was Supposed To Be At The Viewpoint... But There Was No View And The Snow Was So High There Was Nowhere For Me To Stand For Me To Be Able To See Them... So I Picked This Spot In Front Of The Cabin With A Snow Covered Tree Making An Arch And That's Where We Did The Ceremony! When You Don't Have Guests & Are Truly Eloping, There's So Many Options! Yesterday Was Kind Of A Big Day For Me. It Marked The 12 Year Anniversary Of When I Decided To Make A Real Thing Of This Photography Business & Env Photography Was Born. I Look Back Over The Past 12 Years & Boy Has My Style Changed. I Used To Be All About Industrial, Urban & Grungy; Hated The Idea Of Shooting In Nature. Over Time I've Found What Makes Me Happy & Yesterday's Heli-elopement Is Everything I Dream Of Now!⁠ ⁠ I Got Over My Fear Of Helicopters (thanks Sara & Devin!!) & Spent The Evening Being Eaten Alive By Mosquitos In The Most Beautiful Places With Even Awesomer People. Yesterday's Elopement With Nikia & Jonathan (and Really How I've Been Spending Most Of This Year Is Exactly Where I Want To Be) Has Me Excited To See What The Future Brings! My First Time Shooting At Waterfowl Lakes & We Got The Magical Light As The Sun Was Setting Behind The Mountains. It Was The Perfect Way To End The Day With Nikia & Jonathan!⁠ ⁠ My Favourite Part Of Elopements Is That We Can Plan To Shoot With The Best Light Because You Aren't Worried About Making Your Guests Wait For Dinner (although Poor Jonathan Was Starving At This Point Haha). We Gte To Plan The Day Around Getting You The Best Pictures Possible While Having The Best Time Ever!

Sometimes The Most Valuable Contribution To A Bouquet Is Not Purposely Picked From The Garden.
