Angie & Keith Eloped At @emeraldlakelodge Yesterday. The Sun Was Out In Full Force For Their Ceremony But Then The Clouds Magically Blew In For Most Of Our Portraits! Their Canoe Ride On The Lake Is Just Perfect!

It's Been A Little Quiet On My Ig For The Past Few Weeks... For A Few Reasons.⁠ ⁠ 1. I Was Shooting Like Crazy, 5 Weddings In A Row!⁠ ⁠ 2. I Flew Out To Kamloops For This Wedding In The Shuswaps.⁠ ⁠ 3. A Couple Of My Hotels Had Terrible Wi-fi.⁠ ⁠ 4. My Laptop Decided It Needed To Run 20 Slower Than It Used To So I've Been Spending Days Trying To Get It Fixed.⁠ ⁠ 5. I'm Feel The Mid-summer Burnout. I Love All The Shooting But The Before & After Work Is Really Wearing On Me. The Travel Time Is Really Getting Me Down & I Can't Seem To Sleep Anymore. I've Booked A Bit Less For August So I Can Try To Get A Little Time Back For Myself To Shake This Feeling.⁠ ⁠ Last Weekend Was Fun Though, In Spite Of All Of The Stuff That's Going On With Me & The Crazy Weather That Was Repeatedly Thrown At Us For Courtney & Matt's Wedding. I Know It's The Middle Of Summer, So Why In The World Am I Showing Winter Photos? I Actually Love Shooting In The Winter. My Favourite Time To Be At @emeraldlakelodge Is When It's Full Of Snow. For The This Elopement, The Ceremony Was Supposed To Be At The Viewpoint... But There Was No View And The Snow Was So High There Was Nowhere For Me To Stand For Me To Be Able To See Them... So I Picked This Spot In Front Of The Cabin With A Snow Covered Tree Making An Arch And That's Where We Did The Ceremony! When You Don't Have Guests & Are Truly Eloping, There's So Many Options! This Is One Of My Favourite Ceremonies From Emerald Lake!⁠ ⁠ Are You Thinking About A Winter Wedding? I'd Love To Be The One To Freeze With You & Make Some Snowy Magic!

Although That Rock Was A Little Slippery To Stand On... But Worth It!

Everyone Knows #morainelake, #lakelouise & #peytolake Since They've Become #instafamous, But There Is So Much More To Banff National Park Than The Epic Blue-green Waters. Those Well Known Places Are Beautiful, But They Are Buuuuuuuuusy! ⁠ ⁠ I Heard That Parks Canada Closed The Highway Access Yesterday To Lake Louise At 2:30 Pm. I'm Lucky I'm Always Early And Got In At 2:15 Pm. The Traffic Was Bumper-to-bumper Heading Up To Lake Louise & Moraine Lake. It Was The Busiest I've Ever Seen It. In The Middle Of All That, We Were Doing Victoria & Charles' Wedding Photos. We Battled It Out To Get Into Moraine, Climbed The Rock Pile & Shot In Crazy Sun.⁠ ⁠ After That We Headed Up Icefields Parkway & Went To Peyto... We Pretty Much Had The Upper Viewpoint All To Ourselves With Amazing Light... It's All About Timing. After That We Headed To Bow Lake... But With A Quick Stop On The Road To Get A Few Photos... And Then I Took Them Down Into The Ditch. ⁠ ⁠ Yup, This Is A Ditch Right Beside The Highway In Banff National Park & I Think It's Epic. The Best Part? We Had It All To Ourselves!⁠ ⁠ There Is So Much More To Banff Than The Big Lakes... So Let's Go Explore And Find Something New & Amazing!

I Had Spied This Spot When I Was Driving On The Highway Last Week & Filed It Away As A Spot I Wanted To Try To Shoot At. From Above I Thought The Water Was A Puddle... Turns Out It Was A Freezing Cold Mountain Stream... But Anyway.⁠ ⁠ After Kim & Dan's Ceremony & Photos At Peyto, We Were Headed To Bow Lake & I Really Just Wanted To Do Photos Here... So We Pulled Off On The Side Of The Highway & Went Down The Bank. I Got Them Over On The Rocky Area With The Wildflowers And I Looked At The Puddle... And Realized It Was Pretty Deep. I Was Hell Bent On Getting That Reflection Though.⁠ ⁠ So I Took Off My Hiking Boots & Socks, Rolled My Pants Up As High As I Could And Stepped Into That Freezing Mountain Stream To My Knees. Then I Felt The Slick, Goopy Muck That Was Lining The Bottom Of The Stream Squish Through My Toes And Go Up To My Ankles. Yuck. I Waded Out Slowly Since It Was Slippery And Found A Spot Where I Could Get The Reflection & We Waited A Little For My Steps To Be Erased From The Surface.⁠ ⁠ Then We Got Magic! Like Whole Bunches Of Magic! I'm So Happy Kim & Dan Were Ok To Climb Down Into Essentially What Was Another Ditch To Let Me Take This Photo! ⁠ ⁠ Sometimes The Spots That I Want To Take You Seem A Little Weird Or Iffy, But I Swear Its Only To Be Able To Create Something This Amazing For You.⁠ ⁠ And I'm Still Cleaning Mud Out From Between My Toes... That Stuff Was Like Super Glue.

Yesterday Was Kind Of A Big Day For Me. It Marked The 12 Year Anniversary Of When I Decided To Make A Real Thing Of This Photography Business & Env Photography Was Born. I Look Back Over The Past 12 Years & Boy Has My Style Changed. I Used To Be All About Industrial, Urban & Grungy; Hated The Idea Of Shooting In Nature. Over Time I've Found What Makes Me Happy & Yesterday's Heli-elopement Is Everything I Dream Of Now!⁠ ⁠ I Got Over My Fear Of Helicopters (thanks Sara & Devin!!) & Spent The Evening Being Eaten Alive By Mosquitos In The Most Beautiful Places With Even Awesomer People. Yesterday's Elopement With Nikia & Jonathan (and Really How I've Been Spending Most Of This Year Is Exactly Where I Want To Be) Has Me Excited To See What The Future Brings! Elopements & Intimate Weddings In The Mountains & In The Great Outdoors In General Is Truly What I Love!⁠ ⁠ Now, Enough About Me. Newly Engaged & Feeling On Top Of The World! Ugh, Such A Bad Pun. Shame On Me. I Couldn't Resist Though! Please Don't Hold It Against Me! Taylor & I Had Been Conspiring By Email For A Few Weeks... She Thought That Dan Was Going To Propose On Their Trip To Banff & Really Wanted To Do Engagement Photos Here. We Finally Decided That If He Did Pop The Question To Get In Touch And We'd Make The Session Happen. If He Didn't, Then We Would Do Photo & Dan Would Be In The Doghouse For Quite Some Time. ⁠ ⁠ Luckily Dan Came Through & Proposed On Thursday! I Got An Excited E-mail From Taylor & We Put The Plan Into Action For Their Engagement Photos Last Night!⁠ ⁠ Our Plan Was To Go To Moraine Lake But The Road Was Closed (had Been Closed For An Hour & A Half At That Point & We Didn't Know How Much Longer) Due To A Climbing Accident On The Rockpile & Emergency Crews Needed Full Access. So I Suggested We Head To Peyto (it's Only Open For Another Week & A Half) And We Had The Best Time There, Pretty Much Having The Upper Viewpoint All To Ourselves.⁠ ⁠ When The Rain & Thunder Started To Roll In, We Left And Headed To Bow Lake Wheere It Go Super Chilly, But Was Just Beautiful. I Had Then Hopping Over The Dream To Get The Reflections I Adore (check Out Their Jump Shots...
