I'm Going To Share A Story That Is Really Quite Embarrassing... But There Are Some Lessons To Be Learned From It, So I Will Let My Pride Take A Bit More Of A Beating If It Helps Someone Else. April In The Mountains Is Messy. The Snow Is Melting, The Ground Is Wet & It's Super Muddy. So Mid-ceremony Yesterday, I'm Trying To Get Down The Hill At The Viewpoint At Emerald Lake That Is A Mix Of Thick Mud & Melting Snow. Before I Knew What Happened I Was Flat Out On My Side, Both Cameras Hit The Ground Hard. Covered In Mud, Water & Snow. I Looked Like A Creature From The Black Lagoon From The Waist Down. I Got Up Quickly, Got Back To Shooting. One Camera Was Broken. Would Not Turn On. The Other Was On, Not Showing The Display. I Couldn't Change Focus Points, The Dials Weren't Doing What They Were Supposed To, Autofocus Was Toast. Fuuuuuuck! There Was A Wedding Ceremony. I Had To Do Something. So Here's The First Lesson. The Beep. The Beep That People Either Love Or Hate. Well, I Am A Big Fan Of The Beep & It Saved My Ass Yesterday. Thinking Quickly, I Put My Lens In To Manual, Pressed The Shutter, Adjusted The Lens Until I Heard That Sweet Beep That Let Me Know The Photo Was In Focus. I Had To Adjust How I Shoot, To Work With One Camera And In Fully Manual Mode. But I Did It. I Didn't Fuck Up The Photos & Ruin Someone's Wedding Day. So Use The Darn Beep, It Could Save You One Day. I Can't Even Tell You How Stressed I Was, I Tried To Not Let It Show, But Wow. You Really Can't Control What Can Happen On A Wedding Day, You Just Need To Do The Best You Can, Get As Creative With You Problem Solving, To Just Make It Happen! Congratulations To Andrea & David, Who, Along With Their Guests, Will Always Have The Memory Of Me Bodyslamming The Mud, Looking Like A Swamp Monster, For The Rest Of Their Lives...
It's Been Almost A Month Since I Went To Utah & I'm Missing Those Gorgeous Skies & Dreamy Landscapes. Would You Really Expect A Side Road Beside A Highway To Look This Awesome? I Knew It Would. I'm On A Bit Of A Photo Break Right Now While I Wait For My Cameras To Get Repaired. I'm Actually Enjoying The Break. It's Let Me Work On Other Things, Like Last Minute Bookkeeping To Get My Taxes Done. I'm Working On Some Website Updates And I Have A Million Sessions To Finish Editing... And Let's Not Even Talk About How Far Behind I Am On Blogging. What Are The Tips & Tricks You Use To Keep You On Track To Getting Everything Done That Needs To Get Done?
How Is This Place Even Real? You Can See The Cracks In The Salt & The Salt Crystals Are Sparkling Like Twilight Vampires! That Dark & Stormy Sky Made Me So Excited ! Amber & Steve Were So Great To Work With, Not Even A Complaint About Walking On The Sharp Salt! I Bet You Didn't Know It's Crazy Sharp Walking On The Wet Salt Flats... After A While Each Step Hurt So Much. It Was Like Hundreds Of Tint Crystals Were Cutting Into Our Feet! Oh, The Things We Do For A Pretty Photo! I Can't Wait To Go Back Next Year & I Will Be Booking Sessions Here, Pretty Much Every Day For A Week! Get In Touch If You Wanna Book A Session!
Who Else Is Not-so-patiently Waiting For Spring & The Cherry Blossoms To Arrive In Alberta? Just A Couple More Weeks Right? If The Snow Will Stop, Right?? I'll Be Booking Last Minute Cherry Blossoms Mini-sessions In Edmonton Once We Know When The Trees Are Going To Bloom. Want To Book A Session? You Know You Want To...

I'm Old-school, And I'm Proud Of That Fact. I'm All About Historical Venues, Elegance, And Simplicity. And I Love Constant Action, Even In Photography. I Used To Pose My Models While Shooting Fashion For Almost 20 Years, But I Don't Do It With My Brides.⠀ ⠀ How Gorgeous Is This Bunch?! My Favorite Venue And Favorite Wedding Of 2019. Do You Guys Like More Posed Group Shots Or Action?⠀ ⠀ Venue @newport_mansionsweddings⠀ Bride's Gown @galialahav ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 👉🏻 Follow @freireweddingphoto 💍⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Tuesday Kicked Off Wedding & Elopement Season For After A Shortish Break For Me (if You Can Call A Few Weeks A Break!). It's Pretty Much Crazy Time From Now Until The End Of November. Yup. November.⠀ ⠀ Mandy & Sebastian Traveled From Germany And Said Their Vows To Each Other On The Shores Of Two Jack Lake. Watching Them Declare Their Love To Each Other, Just For The Two Of Them, It Was Such A Beautiful Thing. Now They Can Share The News Back Home With Photos!⠀
The Last Few Days Have Been Busy! On Friday I Met Up With Neil & Shruti At Lake Minnewanka In Banff. In Most Normal Places, May Would Be Fairly Warm, But In The Mountains, Not So Much. In Between Bursts Of Rain & Gusts Of Wind, These Two Fought The Cold And We Made Total Magic! I Love That They Braved The Cold And Went Super Formal With Their Outfits! Looks So Good In The Mountains, Don't You Think?
Picking The First Photo To Sneak Peek Is Hard! I Have So Many Photos I Love From Tasha & Josh's Wedding Today, But I Am So Drawn To This One! Neil & Shruti Look Pretty Cozy Cuddled Up On That Rock. Would You Believe It Was 3 Celsius, Windy Af & If You Look Closely, You Can See The Rain Falling On Them. And They Still Look Happy!
I Really Like Lake Louise In The In-between Seasons. The Mix Of Snow, Ice & Water Just Looks So Pretty. The Next Time I'm At Lake Louise It's Not Going To Look Like This! What's Your Favourite Time Of Year To Visit Lake Louise?
2 Years Ago Jon And Monica Met Like Any New Modern Day Couple Using A Dating App. It's The Way We Met. We Can't Choose How We Meet But Its How The Story Really Unfolded. Monica Really At First Wasn't That Interested Lol She Was More Like A Free Bird. Just Wanting To Travel And Explore The World. Little Did She Know Jon Was Up For His Next Adventure Just Moving From Spain And Backpacking All Of Europe By Himself He Was Able To Get To Know Who He Really Was And What He Had To Offer. After One Conversation At A Local Bar Didn't Mean That That They Were In Love Yet Lol It Took Some Time Just As Friends. Walks In The Parks, Wine Over Sunsets And Eventually A Kiss On The Beach That Changed Their Lives. 2 Year Later, Jon Surprised Her With A Wedding Proposal Like No Other In Big Sur, California.
