While we're very use to sharing our lovely couples love stories, we're offered asked what inspired us to become Celebrants, so here's our own little story:

Why we became Celebrants

During the planning process of our own wedding just over 10 years ago, we encountered so many suppliers offering a variety of services that catered so well to so many couples.

But when it came to searching for a Celebrant, we found that the role of a Celebrant was held mostly by those that were in retirement, looking for something special and with a challenge to keep them busy and to keep the brain ticking, which we totally get.

However, as a couple looking for a simple modern wedding, we felt that there was a huge hole in the wedding industry to cater for couples like ourselves. We planned a private beach wedding on an island and had family and friends flying in from overseas to join us, so it was really important to us that they enjoyed the ceremony and weren’t subjected to something too traditional, and not ‘us’.

After much searching, we managed to find a Celebrant that gave us the flexibility to contribute and review the wording of the ceremony which was a real positive from previous discussions with other celebrants where we felt we were obliged to do everything ‘their way’.

We were generally pretty satisfied with the Celebrant we had chosen and while we did spend 30 minutes with him on the beach the day before politely negotiating where we would stand (we simply wanted the sea in the backdrop, but he initially refused claiming the sun would be in his eyes), he eventually agreed to our standing arrangements and turned up on the day to present our ceremony wearing sunglasses.

Our ceremony was fine, and we enjoyed it and made it ours where we felt we could, however we left the island with a strong feeling that there was a gaping lack of flexibility being offered by Celebrants. This inspired us so much, we became the change we wanted to see in the industry and began our studies to become Marriage Celebrants with a vision to provide modern, enjoyable ceremonies with complete flexibility for couples to have their day, their way!

We never anticipated that we would receive such an overwhelming response to our vision for flexible modern ceremonies and contemporary processes, that our passion would become our full-time roles. We are so grateful for all the amazing feedback and 5-star reviews from our clients and all the accolades and recognition we’ve received from the industry.
