If there is one thing I hear regularly it’s “I wish I would have hired a Day of Coordinator.” Couples walk into their day excited and ready to welcome all the memories they will make without the full understanding that a successful day takes a solid team.
A wedding day is made up of a million little things that when they come together and organized to perfection, make for a day of celebration and ecstasy. Creating a day like that requires a team that works well together and most of all bodes a strong leader.
Enter your Day of Coordinator. Your Day of Coordinator is the person who takes all the details and team and brings them together to create a day that is stress-free for you as a couple, and memorable for all of your guests (oh, and seamless for all the vendors involved). It’s an important addition to your dream team that will provide you with peace of mind on your day. Now that you know the value of a Coordinator, let's cover the difference between a Venue Coordinator and a Day of Coordinator.
Often a venue will offer a couple a Venue Coordinator. Which is a tremendous gift but can often be confused with a Day of Coordinator. This individual is there to coordinate everything that involves the venue. They will make sure everyone knows where they are to set up, have ACs and lights on, manage communication between the couple and the venue/caterer and advise on locations for photos, the ceremony, and the reception onsite. Again, their responsibilities are normally focused on things that pertain to the venue. Your Day of Coordinator, however, is there to coordinate your day. This individual's responsibilities can range from creating a timeline for your day and executing it, to communicating with your vendor team, to running your rehearsal and advising you on key items needed for the day. In short, their responsibilities are truly endless when it comes to your dream wedding and the organization of it.
A good Day of Coordinator will not only provide you with peace of mind but also handle any issues that arise without involving and unsettling you on your big day. They will also partner well with each vendor you hire, including a potential Venue Coordinator. In short, hire a Day of Coordinator.
You can thank me later.
