A Pink Villa Wedding Outside Rome

Imagine saying “I do” under swaying palm trees in the courtyard of a private pink villa, just steps from the coastline of Fregene, Italy. This intimate celebration was the epitome of a destination wedding dream: 10 beloved guests, a private chef crafting exquisite dishes, and a setting so romantic it felt straight out of a movie. With the sun dipping low and the salty sea breeze weaving through every moment, this couple created a wedding experience that was as breathtaking as it was personal.

I highly recommend Fregene, whether for a visit or to host your Italy elopement. It’s such a laidback town with equally easy access to both the beach and the train into Rome. There’s also the most incredible gelato place! {An integral part of any trip to Italy.}

Rowan & Kelsey are incredible people, and it was amazing being their elopement photographer. Not only did we have an pre-wedding session. It’s renowned for its terraced gardens that exemplify Italian Renaissance design, especially its numerous fountains. Currently, it functions as an Italian state museum and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One of the reasons Rowan & Kelsey chose an Italy elopement was to be able to explore the amazing sights and history, so a visit to Villa D’Este was such a perfect fit for their pre-wedding session. They explored the ground together, taking in the view, the history in the villa itself, and the unbelievable gardens and fountains.

The entire wedding was incredible: beautiful and built around what is important to them and what they knew they’d love. They stayed at a private villa in Fregene – which was pink, by the way! – where they got ready the morning of the wedding and also where they held their ceremony in the front yard, surrounded by loved ones.

For their first look, I had Kelsey meet Rowan in their room. The hallway leading down into their room offered such framing and inspiration. Plus, how could I not utilize that amazing pink and green backdrop?!After their moment alone, we stepped out into the utterly perfect weather for some shots on the walkway between suites on the villa’s upper level. It was a wonderful opportunity to chat with them about the experience they’d had since arriving as they prepared for their Italy elopement.

Their ceremony was in the courtyard, led by a close friend and featuring personalized vows they wrote themselves. They were surrounded by friends and family who had come to celebrate with them, visibly delighted by the ceremony’s beauty and intimacy. It was a gorgeous and touching moment!

Afterward, we shared incredible wine {and a few braved a questionable soda}. Then, we took some group photos, gave the couple a few minutes along while I captured their experience, and mingled, enjoying the company until dinnertime. {And we even got entertained by the surprise yard turtles!}

Casual Wedding Dinner at an Italy Elopement

As the sun set, the private chefs Rowan and Kelsey hired for their friends & family arrived and began preparing dinner in the villa’s kitchen. Watching Rowan, who had learned Italian for this trip, chat with the chefs as they got ready was incredible. It was such a beautiful evening, listening to stories about life in Italy from locals and capturing every moment as their Italy elopement photographer.
