One of the first questions we ask brides when helping them find a wedding dress is usually…”What’s your wedding vision?” It may seem like a daunting, over-arching question, that’ll have some brides break into a sweat. Sure, you have an image of what you want to look like as a bride in your head, but how do you make that vision a reality? Or better yet, explain that vision to your bridal stylist so that they can select gowns that fit with your bridal style?
If your vision is ever changing or non-existent…have no fear! Finding your bridal style is a perfect step one to figuring out what you want to look like as a bride. Above all, your bridal style should stay true to who you are as a person. Looking and feeling like yourself as you walk down the aisle is just as important, if not more, than “wowing” your guests with your wedding dress.
We’re breaking down five key bridal styles so you can go into your first wedding dress appointment (or try-at-home party!), a mini-bridal expert. We’re talking lace types, fabrics, even hues of ivory! You’ll know how to articulate what’s already there in your vision or can form your vision with a better sense of your personal bridal style.
Bridal Style: Romantic
The romantic bridal style is all about soft details, floral designs, and whimsical skirts! That’s not to say a fitted gown with the right lace couldn’t fit into a romantic bridal vision, but typically you’ll know you’re a romantic bride if you’re drawn to light tulle or a flowy chiffon. You may even have your eye on brighter ivory tones or something blush. All this to say you want your dress that accents your femininity and makes you feel your most bridal.
If romantic is your bridal style, our Gemma gown could be the one. Gemma has the lightest tulle skirt with a floral mesh top that is stunning and sweet. Book Gemma to try on at home here.
Bridal Style: Boho
Characterized by carefree silhouettes with darker ivory hues and crochet laces, the boho bridal style is for the most free-spirited of brides! Usually you’ll know you’re a boho bride if you’re looking for a dress without all the fuss…this means less boning, less layers, and less structure. While the boho bridal style can range from flowy skirts to a simple slip dress, they tend to be less traditional in color. We love an almond hue paired with an ivory lace for a boho bride…with or without the flower crown!
If boho is your bridal style, our Madison dress may be the one. Madison features a dimensional combination of a champagne underlay with a Spanish-inspired ivory lace. Book Madison to try on at home here.
Bridal Style: Classic
The classic bridal style is all about longevity! You’re a bride who wants to look back on her wedding day pictures in twenty years and not say…”what was I thinking?” You want a timeless dress, that is less about embellishments and more about high quality fabrics with structure… like a sleek crepe or a mikado silk. That’s not to say a classic bride won’t be drawn to a little lace but usually you’ll know classic is your bridal style if buttons are a wedding dress must.
If classic is your bridal style, our Jessie dress may be the one. Jessie is an all-over crepe with structured seams and a timeless square neckline. Book Jessie to try on at home here.
Bridal Style: Minimalist
A play on the classic bride, the minimalist bridal style is just as it sounds…simple and sleek! You’re skipping the lace, the beading, and ditching the veil. Usually you’ll know you’re a minimalist bride if you’re on the hunt for a dress without a train or anything that can pass your rigorous dance test. We also wouldn’t be surprised if as a minimalist bride you considered eloping or going with a bridal mini.
If minimalist is your style, our Tabitha dress may be the one. Tabitha features a deep V-front and back with an all-over crepe for a dress that is understated yet elegant. Book Tabitha to try on at home here.
Bridal Style: Glam
From old Hollywood glamour to a dress that meets your need for some sparkle, the glam bridal style is all about dramatic details. You’ll know you’re a glam bride if you say things like “I want a wow factor,” or “It needs something…” You’re also probably not afraid of being ahead of the trends with an element in your look that is non-traditional. Perhaps with a bridal cape?
If glam is your style, our Elise dress may be the one. Elise channels old Hollywood glamour with a classic boat neckline and wing-like, hand-beaded sparkle. Book Elise to try on at home here.
