Lake Bled Weddings with Petra Starbek

     

Planning a wedding can be daunting, let alone a destination wedding. As a Filipino couple living in the USA yet who loves to travel the world, we chose to have our dream wedding in the charming country of Slovenia. My then fiancé and I knew that we were going to need an experienced wedding planner to help bring our vision into a reality.

Sixteen months prior to our target wedding date, the search for someone who will lead our wedding team started. We interviewed several candidates but there was only one person who stood out among all. Her personality and passion for what she does really shone through. Ever wedding featured on her portfolio shows unique heartwarming love story. The artistry of each wedding that she worked on were one of the most beautiful that I’ve ever seen. After a zoom call from Colorado to Ljubljana, we were totally and completely in love with her. It was impossible to describe the immediate connection we felt with her, knowing that we found someone who radiated light and love with such a bubble personality. Yes, there may be a hundred of women named “Petra” in Slovenia but we made the right decision to choose Petra Starbek, owner of Storija Weddings.

Her strong motivation and constant communication helped us and the fact that she was open to various forms like emails, WhatsApp, video calls, Instagram, Facebook was amazing. The language barrier never slowed her down. She was always there for us in providing options, ideas, visions and most of all, friendship. She was organized, experienced, very driven, easy going and very patient. If I didn’t have Petra in my orbit, I would have a multiple panic breakdown. She was my 100% lifeline throughout this entire wedding process. She worked tirelessly for us through all of the uncertainty and continually gave us sound and unbiased advice to help us navigate some situations even on some matters that were beyond the scope of our signed wedding planning contract. Her guidance, creativity and energy brought us comfort, warmth and reassurance. Her dedication for her craft and enthusiasm are exactly what every bride needs as her wing woman to plan a wedding.

Petra is extremely knowledgeable about wedding vendors, contracting, paperwork and most importantly, the Slovenian’s local cultures. Although we were all working from different parts of the world, she was timely on her responses and feedbacks. She was never too busy to chat or discuss about wedding details, no matter how big or small. She listened carefully to what we wanted and brought together a team to create the best day for me and my groom.

She understood that we want our Wedding Day to be a reflection of me and my soulmate. We love that there is so much detail in her work- Google docs list to ensure that everyone aboard is on time with all tasks and assignments for a grandest day. She single-handedly liaised with every one of our vendors to create the most organized timeline. And on our Wedding Day, she 100% delivered from the early morning preparations and setups to the teardown at the end of the night. And she was the lone person who stayed last by our side when everyone else left the wedding venue. She really took care of from the beginning to the end and not a moment that we felt abandon. That alone spoke highly of a true professional that she was.

As a first-time bride, I’m also forever thankful to Petra because she was the only one who helped me dolled up in my wedding gown (my bridesmaids were busy preparing and dealing with the sweltering heat on that day), making her my unofficial bridesmaid. Her communications with all of our suppliers were incredible and she did so much behind the scenes that I know my groom and I were not aware of, which made everything on that day easy for us and for all our guests who travelled from different countries. She was a superstar at keeping us calm and composed and everything in order, even with the evening rain! In her hands, everything ran smoothly and seamlessly. My groom and I did not have to worry about the flow of the wedding even throughout the day and night. Everyone who attended told us it was the best destination wedding they have ever joined (true story!) And that it was hard for them and for me and my husband to come back to Earth after that.

Our fairy tale wedding journey on July 19, 2024, in the romantic Lake Bled was absolutely perfect in every way imaginable plus more. It was the most unforgettable day ever for me and George. Every minute was full of magic. We would have not pulled it off without Petra. Our journey together since last year was so worth it. She was really born for this role, and her experience and wisdom are unmatched. It was also evident from the very beginning that she truly loves her job. Despite of us running into some challenges before the big day, she handled things with grace, tact and poise. Most importantly, she made our Wedding authentically ours.

The moment my husband and I parted ways from her was bittersweet. It was like saying goodbye to a lifelong friend. There will never another person so professional, so dedicated, so hardworking and magical as our Petra, because there could never be another like her. After the wedding, I was sad that we are not working with her anymore, but I know who to call when my husband and I will renew our vows and future wedding celebrations of our friends. She is incredible and inspiring, and we highly recommend her Storija Weddings to everyone. Rather than just a wedding planner, Petra has become a new member of our close family. I can’t wait to see more of what she can do to the wedding world in the future.
To be honest, hiring Petra as our wedding planner was the best decision I’ve ever made next to marrying my husband.
