Additional details:
What is your photography Style?
I have a fine art approach to weddings, cultivating images that tell the story of your wedding. If you follow my Instagram feed you will find that I am also an oil portrait artist. My history in this form of art really shows in my photography. From candid moments to editorial posed shots, my goal is to create images that the bride and groom will love. As you can see in my images here, I take an organic, natural approach to create imagery that is soft, romantic, and classic.
Where are you based and do you travel?
I live in the heart of Austin Texas off South Congress Ave. I love it! Living close to downtown where I can jump on a running trail or walk to my favorite coffee house is great. I love to travel so let me know where you are! I would be happy to meet you there! A specified amount of mileage is included in each wedding package. Additional travel costs may be added for some locations.
Do you provide your own lighting or are you a “natural light only” photographer?
Yes, I provide my own lighting. I believe that one cannot simultaneously be a natural light only AND wedding photographer. Reception halls are known for being dark or having unflattering light. They need to be well lit by someone (your photographer!) in order to obtain quality images. I use natural light as much as possible, but also have the ability to light situations when needed.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. I can provide your venues with a certificate of coverage if necessary.
How many images will I receive of my wedding?
This is really dependent on many factors (i.e., length of coverage, events occurring throughout the wedding, details of the wedding, number of guests, etc.) The average is between 50-80 images per hour of shooting time. I believe in making your shots count. I prefer a method of choosing carefully moments and details that will matter most to you. I want all your photos to be ones you want to put in your album.
Will the images I receive be edited?
Yes, I shoot in a mode of photography that requires editing. All of the images you receive will be individually hand edited by me. However, please note that I believe in leaving my subjects as natural looking as possible. I will work to get those fly-a-way hairs or perhaps an unexpected blemish taken care of but I do not want to reconstruct the beautiful person in the images.
How will I get my images once they are edited and ready to view?
You will have your own custom online gallery! On my website you can see the "Client Log-in" page. There you can enter your email and special password to your gallery. You can view, download or print all the items in your gallery. Click here to view a sample gallery.
Will the images come with a print release?
Yes, you will receive a print release with your engagement and wedding images.
Do you work off of a shot list?
For your wedding day, I do have a shot list I work off of but I use it as a guideline. I have through the years memorized what I want to capture on your day. As a Fine Art Photographer, allowing for personal style and spontaneity to shine through in your images is key. Each couple and wedding is unique and your gallery should show that. We can incorporate your ideas into the final images. You are more than welcome you to share ideas with me to see what we can create together. I love being added to your Pinterest boards to see what you have created and what you have in mind on your special day.
What about Family photos on my wedding day?
For the family formals, I will provide you with a shot list that you can fill out with the images you’d like. When we sign the contracts and fill out your wedding day questionnaire, these are things we will go over together. A lot of forethought goes into the timing of your day and making sure everything flows smoothly. We want to make sure you can just focus on the importance of your day and nothing else.
When can we meet with you?
I am available for face-to-face meetings Monday through Friday, any time of the day. Please fill out the contact form and we can set up a consultation. If distance is an issue, we can also meet via Skype or google hangouts as well.
Contract/Financial Questions
When should we book?
As soon as possible! My dates start to fill up about a year in advance. It is nice to plan in advance and finalize the details of your day. It can alleviate the stress that some experience when waiting until the last minute and miss out on the vendors they wanted to book.
Do you require a retainer fee?
Yes, I require a $500 retainer fee to hold dates. Dates cannot be held without a signed contract and retainer.
Is the retainer fee refundable?
No, the retainer fee is not refundable except in very special circumstances. The purpose of the retainer is to 1) hold the date for you, which means we must turn other potential clients away, and 2) hold the date for us.
