I had originally booked Julie for my wedding day but due to her lack of communication and professionalism I decided to cancel my services with her.
I had my trial rescheduled. The rescheduled trial was also changed to a different time on the day of the trial. I was understanding of these changes but my experience following the trial ultimately made me choose a different artist.
Julie had promised to send me the trial photos the next morning. I did not receive them. I sent her a message and received no response. She let me know that she was not responsive due to moving but this could have been communicated better. A simple message that she received my message and would respond would have been acceptable. Instead I was left un-read while she posted multiple stories.
Lastly when I canceled my services with Julie, she let me know she would respond within a few days regarding over payment for services. She had requested I pay more than what was originally in our contract. It has been over a month since her message and I have not heard from her.
Although I believe Julie can be capable of doing nice hair and makeup her communication and professionalism need improvement.

While Julie did great for my bridal makeup trial, she left me crying and rushing my own makeup right before my wedding ceremony this past Saturday. For one, she double booked that morning (and this other client she booked after I had already booked with her was an entire bridal party, as she informed me). I wouldn’t have such a problem with this if it was just for a bride but a whole bridal party? I just hired her for me and my mom. I was nervous about the possibility of her running late since she had an entire bridal party before she came to do my makeup, but I trusted her when she said she’d still have plenty of time to do my and my moms makeup before I had to leave for my venue at 12:30. I later asked her if she’d also have time to fit in doing my hair, but would understand if she didn’t. I realize it may be pushing it. She reassured me she would be able to do it. Still having my doubts about time management, but still trusting that she’s the professional and knows what she’s talking about, I trusted her. Well, wedding day comes and she’s late. We’re communicating about her being late and I tell her “I need to have my stuff done by 12:00,” because I did still need to get dressed and put on my accessories and pose for photos before leaving at 12:30. She tells me she won’t arrive until 12:00 because her last group ran late. At this point, it’s 11:15 and I don’t have makeup or hair complete. Thank goodness I had started to curl my own hair because I knew she wasn’t going to be able to do that for sure. I was so upset that she wasn’t going to arrive until 12:00, that I told her there was no point in arriving anymore and asked for a refund for my deposit. While she agreed, she then proceeded to blame me for changing times on her from 12:30 to 12:00. She insisted she could’ve had me ready by 12:30. I NEVER changed times. I always stood by needing to LEAVE at 12:30 - which accounts for getting dressed after hair and makeup too. Does she not account for those things as a makeup artist? Did she think she’d do my hair and makeup with me in my wedding dress and risk makeup and product getting on it? Not to mention, she basically said she was going to spend THIRTY MINUTES on my hair and makeup? I’m hiring her for my big day and all she wants to give me is 30 rushed minutes to look beautiful? I had 40 minutes to do my hair and makeup. I was in tears and had my sisters and mom help me throw on whatever makeup we had on hand and pin some of my hair up and put my veil in. My poor mom had to rush her own makeup too before she came to help me get ready. My brother ran to buy eyelash glue and other stuff we didn’t have because I didn’t bring my makeup with me (why would I? I was under the impression that a professional makeup artist was going to show up on time and have me ready). I managed to leave by 12:30 but I was a wreck and definitely didn’t look put together. I definitely didn’t have the look I envisioned. It was the LAST thing I needed on the biggest day of my life. I’m mostly upset at the fact that she promised to me, my sister who put down the deposit, and my day-of coordinator that she’d have plenty of time to arrive and get us ready, and it was ALL A LIE. I feel like she decided to double book because she prioritized getting money from a large bridal party than ensuring good quality service for me on my big day. So unless you want to be crying an hour before you walk down the aisle and having your family speed rush your makeup and hair for you with limited time and supplies, DON’T hire her.
